I've tried a lot of un-customized mouthpieces and think Vandoren's M15 pretty high up there as it regards the ability to play reeds that might be harder to play on other mouthpieces.
I haven't found reeds that play well on other mouthpieces comparable in rail length/width/curvature and tip opening to NOT play well on an M15.
Particularly for those that have tried their share of mouthpieces, what do you think about some stock mouthpieces being more reed friendly than others? And if you agree with this premise, what are your favorites?
If you don't agree with this premise, say so too, and why.
Of course I speak in broad terms. I'm sure there's individual M15's (or whatever) that just don't cut it; beginner's mouthpieces that for some strange reason are amazing, and reeds (even players) no mouthpiece can help. Of course we're not one size fits all and the player makes the sound, not the reed or mouthpiece---although the latter two certainly help.
Still more, if you agree with the premise, what attributes about a mouthpiece do you think help make it reed friendly?
Please note: I didn't ask for the *best* mouthpiece, although reed friendly may be your criteria. Some great mouthpieces people believe are finicky with reeds, but when you find a good one, you're "Martin Frost" playing that setup.

I've observed the same thing with Selmer S80 sax mouthpieces.
