Selmer Winged Globe

Does anyone else play one of the old Henri Selmer "Winged Globe" clarinets? I have a fabulous one (serial #2741), artfully restored by Vytas Krass. Can we talk about these?

I just sold a very rare 1928 winged globe Bb bass clarinet that goes down to loe Eb serial number 14X that was originally owned by Mr. Anthony Joseph Ciccarelli of the Cleveland Symphony. In all of the years I have been involved with clarinets i have never seen a winged globe bass clarinet. Amazing tone with major power and projection. Since the Selmer Company had only been in existence for about 40 yeasr in 1928 Mr. Henri Selmer was still hand tuning all of the instruments at that time research indicates.

I've got a wing/globe/oval logo basset horn, one of two that were apparently ordered by Sir Henry Wood.

Its slightly younger twin (by one number) is currently for sale on clarinetsdirect, but has been converted to plateau keywork whereas mine is still with ring keys.

I need to add some thumb keys to it (for low D and C) to make it easier to play.
