This was my son's post, but I figured that I'd butt in and clarify that the keys are nickel plated, not silver. There are places where the nickel is worn through, as well as what looks like a thin layer of copper, to the base metal below. Does any of this make a difference?

No. Anderson Silver Plating or American Plating & Manufacturing (312-225-4906) will have to remove the old plating (about $14) and then send them out for buffing (about $65) then they will plate the keys in nickel or silver ($41), your choice. Nickel will be a little cheaper I think. I just called Anderson yesterday to get a quote on replating keys, posts, and rings on an old Selmer and got a price of $122.50 plus s&h. If you can get by the cosmetic look of the keys, it really isn't necessary to get them replated. The older Selmers came with the keys "raw" as they were never plated.
