Hi everyone,
A student is getting ready for a competition, and I told him about Music Minus One. They have covered Spohr Concerto No.1, but only with orchestra, and in physical CD form. I seem to recall there being more modern options for purchasable digital downloads of practice tracks, ideally with piano rather than orchestra. Does anyone know of such a thing?
Thanks a lot,
Peter Stoll

Smartmusic! The play along track is piano, and it's midi (not live performer)...but you can start anywhere in the piece, change the speed at will, and change the track playback to be more or less flexible. Well worth the subscription price.
You'll need to search the site to confirm Spohr 1 is there:

Plus all the other major pieces are provided.

Hi Peter.
You can find this concerto with piano accompaniment at Sheet Music Plus.
Also, have a look at this very good website for clarinet music with piano accompaniment is http://www.piano-accompaniments.com/acatalog/clarinet-repertoire.html

Spohr 1 IS in SmartMusic...I just checked, all 3 movements.
Royalty free for either of us, as a SmartMusic licensee I have the right to make you MP3 files of the content.

Contact me privately through email if this interests you. But let me know if you've done that here, on the bboard, as I'm not the fastest with checking email.
Here's the kind of customizations I can make for you. Please note your response for each in email if you're interested.
* I can turn the metronome click on or off for any take.
* Everything is played by a piano track. This track can be customized to play just the solo, just the accompaniment, both, or just one. I presume you want just the accompaniment but please specify.
* Indicate what tempo changes you want and at what measures for the entire piece, from the begining. Try to do so by the section letter, measure number and beat.
* Specify with of the 3 movements (all).
I can make various takes for you....not a problem.

Thanks for the responses everyone! My student took off with my mention of "Music Minus One" and rush-ordered a CD from Amazon, so let's see if that helps him. Great to know that the modern alternative is called Smart Music.
Thanks again,
Peter

I'm not knocking music-minus-one...but for the same price you can have the accompaniment to all the major clarinet works.
But on the other hand -- you have a great student who shows initiative. That's wonderful!
