Hi all. I was wondering if anyone had any knowledge to lend about cheaper mouthpieces for students. I have a student that has an awful mouthpiece that's falling apart, and want to find her one that will be great for her to learn on. She is switching from oboe, so clarinet is very new to her. I can see that she really wants to improve and become a better clarinet player, but her mouthpiece is holding her back. So if anyone has any input on what mouthpiece she should look into, please help me out. She can't afford to drop 70+ bucks on a mouthpiece, so less expensive mouthpieces are what we're looking for.
Many thanks

Fobes Debut and Ridenour Encore are the only two I'd recommend without reservation.

In addition to the Fobest Debut which I've recommended to folks for years, I've also been using the Behn Overture.

You could add the Hite "Premier". Not expensive and far better than most at the price.

The suggestios are great. But what is it about her current mouthpiece that you think is holding her back? Does it have defects, an unreasonable profile, etc. such that a player with only weeks under her belt needs to change?
