 DG Bass Clarinet? Please help!?

Hello all -

I am a music teacher and musician and came across a very odd old bass clarinet today in a pawn shop. It was a wooden bass, two piece construction on the upper and lower joints. Had a vent key on the neck and a metal bell. Range was to low Eb. Was also housed in a crazy large orange case that resembled a 50s suitcase.

There was no identification on the instruction at all, except an etched logo in the wood which appears to be a "DG" or possibly "DA". The only reference I can find to anything like this around was occasional mention of a Buffet DG, but this had no other marking, Buffet or otherwise. Very sturdy, professional feeling wood.

Thoughts?

Thanks
