For the piece itself I can't say much, you know what you know. As for solos in general, don't get too nervous. The judges can tell when you're uncomfortable. Good luck and have fun!

Russ:

This is a little late, but if you do not have a good teacher, get one. Here the individual teacher can help by listening to you and offering instant help in interpretation and style which is so important. Trying to give you tips on playing this way is a litle difficult without actually hearing and seeing you play.

About the nervousness, eveyone really gets this way. Learning to control it and building up your confidence are two steps which you have probably heard about for several years, but they are still so very important. Again, a good teacher will help you tremendously here.

Good luck.

Russ,

Here is what I can tell you from my limited experience. I don't know the piece you are playing but I do know that a lot of the judges at solo festivals are very much the same. They don't what to hear someone who bareley blows the horn, fill it up with air and make it rattle. Chances are they have heard a ton of players before you that played so softly all the time because they were so nervous that it was hard to hear them. That is why you have to go in there and play with confidence and a sound and musicallity that will knock their socks off. Good luck and do good.
