Steuer Reeds

I've been using Gonzales FOF reeds in 2.75 strength...and love them. I've tried 3.0 with some success and 3.25 with no success. I'd like to order a box of Steurer reeds, but am not sure which strength to purchase...2.5 or 3.0??? What would you recommend?

Roxann: The search function of the bboard will likely offer you non-Vandoren manufacturer strength comparisons with Vandoren.

With this info, this exercise might be like what we call on Wall Street Triads: equating two currencies (reeds brands) that don't exchange enough to have a good market to base prices on, say, Pesos (Steuer) and Australian Dollars (Gonzales), by comparing the Pesos to US Dollars (Vandoren) and US Dollars to Australian Dollars (Gonzales).

The reeds are pretty close to the Vandorens as far as reed strengths.

Thank you folks above for providing the needed information. I didn't know the comparisons with some of the models.

Feel free in asking me for a sample, before buying a box.

I will be at the ClarinetFest giving out a few samples, but the Steuer company has somewhat limited me on the samples. Show up early if you can.
