 Aural training
Author: JonTheReeds

I've been listening in the car to a Jamie Abersold CD for ear training - intervals, chord qualities, progressions etc.

Does anyone have some tips I could do in the car to further develop my ear, or other similar CDs for ear training?

You could turn on a tuner and sing intervals, zeroing out the beats. Or you could even stick a mouthpiece in your mouth and work on intervals.

If you can find an old Dr. Beat, it will play tones and intervals, which you can tune to or improvise around.

However, I think that would be even more distracting than texting while driving, so I wouldn't do it. Instead, stick the CD in your computer drive, put on earphones and work while you surf the web.

When I used to drive 45 minutes to and from work, I held an old mouthpiece, reed and barrel between my lips to strengthen my embouchure.
