just wanted to thank all of you on a new thread in case you didnt get back to the original one. i had a good chat with my teacher about tone and sound and what we hear.
but im really really glad i also posted the question here too. now i got so much to consider and think about thanks to y'all out there. im going to print out all the replies to keep for reference. especially when im having one of those i hate my sound sessions.
think each of you contributed a different aspect to it which i will use as i continue to learn and improve.
ken shaw, thank you for the long and detailed description. im going to practice the things you suggested. its not much different than what my own teacher (his teacher was opperman) tells me...but yours is more detailed and in writing and something i can always reread if i have to.
thanks everyone! you really helped a lot!

Thanks for the kind words. There's much too much to learn all at once. You work on one thing until you can do it without having to think about it, and then go on to the next. It takes practice, but it will happen faster than you might think.
Keep on practicing.
