I've noticed some light scratches on the inside of my Pyne mouthpiece and started to worry if I had caused them. I havn't noticed any major problems aside from some tuning issues that could be me or my clarinet, but I have occasionally swabbed out the mouthpiece with my non-silk cleaning cloth (just by taking the cloth and twisting it into the chamber not dropping in the string). Is it possible that these are just scratches from the hand finish on the Pyne or did I do this?

Are they on the rails or the tip? If not don't worry about it. If there are some scratches there it's advised to smooth them out by a qualified refacer. I'd be happy to look at it for you and smooth out the scratches at no charge, however you live in Florida so there may be someone a lot closer than me out here in Los Angeles.

Often, final hand tweaking of the baffle leaves file marks (could be from the maker or a subsequent buyer). It's really unlikely that you made the scratches, unless you deliberately tried to improve on Pyne's work.
As Bob says, if there were scratches on the rails, they might be worth having smoothed out. It doesn't sound like that's what you're describing.

I wouldn't worry about it. It could be that scratches on the inside are from refacing. For example, many mouthpiece makers tweak the chamber and rest of the "inside" of the mouthpiece and simply STOP when they're done tweaking. They do NOT polish the bore as a final act because, well, that could undue some of their careful tweaking.
If it's on the table, rails, or tip, it'd be more of a concern, but once again, if it still plays well, don't worry about it. I have this habit of (somehow) putting a scratch on the table of almost every mouthpiece I've ever owned. Always in the same place, and I have no idea what I'm doing to cause it. But they play fine so I don't worry about it.

Good to know, I always hated swabbing out my mouthpiece because I was scarred. And yes the scratches are on the inside not the rails.
