I have said this before, but I find it a bit uncomfortable to see questions about auditions that some of you seem to be fully aware of upfront yet only bother to post in an effort to see who won.
We should make an effort to POST audition notices just as eagerly as we are to gossip over the winners and losers. If there is any reason why we cannot post audition notices then I see no reason to gather over the bones like a bunch of vultures.

In fairness, I never noticed a posting for this audition, even in the Local 77 (Philadelphia) newsletter. I wonder if notices were sent out privately? Maybe I just missed it.
It's high time they got around to filling the vacancy. They've been working with a three-man section and filling in with subs for well over a season since Raoul Querze retired.

Paul,
Most people that are in the audition circuit know what auditions are going on at any given time. If i asked, it wasn't for gossip, but for mere respect of those individuals who have put in the time it takes to get to the finals or even win one of these positions. It is comforting to hear about individuals one knows who make the finals of different auditions etc.....

It would then be comforting to know what positions are opening up so that I can cheer for all my friends.
LET'S POST NOTICES IN ADVANCE.
It just looks smarmy and adolescent to do otherwise.

Sorry, that was a knee jerk reaction to something I find unpleasant. I should not be unpleasant in return.
I guess it would not be so offensive to me if a post were to look something like.........
"I would like to congratulate so-and-so upon wining the blah-blah-blah position. That person has been a rising star for years."
Of course that wouldn't answer the burning question at the backyard fence if the answer were not known.
Let's try to celebrate our art and give a hand up to our fellow artists when possible. That's what this Board is all about.

Well, there's this Facebook site. The Philadelphia audition notice was posted January 8 2016. It doesn't say who won.

The Phila Orch web page says final round is April 11. It is now uncommon to see a list of those who advanced until the final round takes place. (This seems to be the common courtesy for those who are in the process of competing)

It was posed in the International Musicians Union paper a while ago where all orchestra auditions are posted. It was no secret.
