After hearing what the dramatic impact the lefreQues did to my friend's tone on the flute, I've decided to take the plunge and try some on my clarinets and oboes. Was wondering what others have tried. Does it work best on things that are metal like the device itself or does it seem to work well on the wood to wood connection as well? Where have you found to be the best placements?

Well, I have a whole demo kit for the lefreQue here with me, so I'll give them a try. I tried one (solid silver) with a customer to bridge the mouthpiece to the top of the barrel at the 330 degree mark, and it seemed to increase resonance and decrease resistance (anecdotal), but I haven't tried it personally yet.

I was wondering if it would be more effective on something with a neck joint like the bass or alto clarinets. The effect on the flute was amazing. That's why I was thinking it might be more of a metal to metal issue.

I just bought 4 of them to put on my period instruments.
Some period instruments have integral barrels; I thought this would be an acceptable attempt at an approximation for instruments that don't.

I once checked one silver plated lefreQue between barrel and upper joint on my H. Wurltizer clarinet. It had some effect: less resistance and less upper partitials in the sound. Both not what I wanted on that instrument. But I can imagine it would benefit on other clarinets (that are bright and resistant).

I have recently started testing a couple different ones.
I have mainly tested between MP and barrel.
I tried all materials, and noted difference between them.
I did feel/hear a difference between the solid silver and goldplated ones, compared to the "cheaper ones".
I am still a bit sceptical about the effect of different materials, and am suspecting that this might be a marketing trick. That the more expensive materials are also dimensionally different some how, which gives a different effect.
I am going to try the silver plated for a while and see what I think.
The major difference for me was that high E and altissimo in general felt more secure.
There was also some difference to my ear on the overtones, but I have to record and test more before I say something about the sound from a far.

Thanks for the testing Peter. Altissimo E on the Eefer is one of its worse notes. It would be worth the price just to fix that note.
