Couldn't resist. JJM is secretly one of those guys I dream of one day being (woodwind doubler having some extremely impressive performances under his belt in movies, theater, pretty much ANYWHERE), but have to admit I won't get there. But the goal is still to narrow that gap. Or since he's obviously playing/performing/practicing more than I can, keep that gap growing at a SLOWER rate!!!

John (then called Johnny) Moses was a phenomenal player when I met him in 1958. He played everything easily and also had a gorgeous sound on sax.
There have been players with as much talent, but nobody worked harder.
He's also pretty aggressive. Give him the chance and he'll run right over you. He succeeds on energy as well as talent.

I've been listening to the CD of the film of "A Chorus Line" recently on which I notice John is credited and it has some fabulous clarinet in numbers like "Dance Ten, Looks Three".
