I recently had my Buffet Tosca stolen from my car in Los Angeles.
The theft occured on 29, January 2016, and the instrument serial number is 550813. I am offering a reward for its safe return.

Very sorry to hear that. I check auction sites regularly so if I see your Tosca I'll post the link. Good luck finding your instrument.

I'm so sorry to hear it. A friend of mine had his horns stolen in London last month, including a Tosca A...after he had finished a performance of Tosca across the street earlier that evening.
I hope yours finds its way home!

Have you tried checking pawn shops within a 10 mile radius? Many thieves try to unload whatever it is they stole as soon as possible.

Pawn shops and craigslist are the most common. Anything with payment systems, tracking (ebay, other online sites with buyer/seller protection or needing accounts set up) are unlikely.
If you haven't, get a police report and that will help your claim and validity at local pawn shops.
Hopefully your insurance might help cover SOME of the cost. Depending on the company, it MIGHT help to have a police report explaining what was stolen.

I trust you realize "reedplayer," that increased car insurance rates and possible cancellation of said insurance due to frequency of claims costs notwithstanding, that baring other preeminent insurance policies on the clarinet, that most car policies are unwritten to pay, deductibles notwithstanding, for reimbursement of that stolen in the vehicle.
Get your documentation on the clarinet together, and make sure the local authorities document on their report the loss of the instrument.
Good luck, and I'm sorry for your loss.

Thanks all,
Fortunately the horn was taken from my car on my property, so the insurance is going to cover it. That said, I still want my horn back! I am a custom mouthpiece maker. If a player helps me get it back, I'll make that person a great mouthpiece in return. If it's not desired, I'll give a reward!

I've been looking, just nothing around. I'm even checking craigslist as far north as San Francisco. I have a weird feeling that someone will find your horn!
Glad your insurance will cover it. I have coverage also, some sort of house insurance, that covers the car items if the car is stolen or broken into. Called a Riders policy. (Spelling?) Everyone should have this. As we all know your car insurance doesn't cover cameras, instruments, things like that.

Pardon if this is covered already, but is there a place that centrally notes the serial numbers of stolen Buffets?
...not to be confused with Buffets that people think are a steal, like http://www.goldencorral.com/ or craigslist instrument purchases.

I hope it's a good sign -- my friend in London's horns were found today!
I hope you enjoy the same satisfaction!

Thank you everyone for your support!
I hope to see it again.
Once again, anyone who assists me in the return of my tosca will get a nice cash reward.
