Doublers: Will Super Revelation fit Alto Sax?

If anyone has tried using a Bb Clarinet BG Super Revelation on a rubber/plastic Alto Sax mouthpiece I would be interested in hearing about your experience, and whether or not you recommend it. Mine seems to fit and work, I'm just wondering if there are issues I am not aware of, or compelling reasons to use the Sax specific model.

(Reason for question: the clarinet models are more readily available used, and less expensive).

If it fits and you like it use it. I've used saxophone ligatures on clarinet.

Just make sure the screw/rod isn't pressed so hard against that it's scratching it. Otherwise, go ahead and use it.

It's a mouthpiece to mouthpiece thing. I have ligatures that fit a fat clarinet mouthpiece and a slim sax mouthpiece, so there's no problem using the same ligature. But most times, my clarinet ligatures don't fit whatever sax mouthpiece I'm using.

If it holds the Reed on, plays fine, and isn't so tight as to be scratching or otherwise visibly damaging the sax mouthpiece, go right ahead.

I have a friend who plays the Vandoren Leather made for alto sax on the clarinet, so anything's possible. With fabric you have a lot more flexibility in this regard.

Thanks for the responses, I'm going to give it a try.

One thing which I have wondered about, but forgot to mention, is the spacing of the two ridges on the ligature plate, and whether the alto ligature has a broader spacing than the clarinet model due to the wider reed. If it is different, could this possibly make any difference in the tone quality? Anyone have both ligatures?
