There's not too many reviews for the Buffet Icon Barrel. Just wondering if anyone has tried one of these? Are they better compared to the Chadash and Moenning?

I'm planning on trying them at the TMEA convention in San Antionio this Feb. I currently play on a Moennig and love it, but I want to try the others as well.

I liked these (you've probably read that already in the older posts), but then I don't like Backun barrels unlike many of the people here so my opinion may not be... er... in step with the latest fashion.
I also think the stuff about the plating on the rings is a load of hogwash, but I still think these are good barrels and certainly liked them better than the Buffet stock barrels and the Moennigs that I tried that day. I found a Chadash I liked for my A clarinet (that day) though I preferred timbre of the Icon.
They seem to have not really gained popularity in USA- the market is pretty hot with new-ish products etc so I'm not really suprised by this.

I am very confused by the quoted review, particularly by "inverse conical however the taper starts smaller then flares out" !!
This is NOT an inverse cone, it's a cone - quite the opposite.
The typical shape of a Chadash say which starts larger then reduces as it reaches the top joint - that is an inverse cone.
I agree with Donald and the plating hogwash. I can just imagine a committee meeting between the PR/Advertising gurus at Buffet when they dreamt up this rubbish.

Hand-made barrels have a slight "wasp waist" profile, decreasing from the top and increasing slightly at the bottom.
Fanciful advertising language is hardly unique to Buffet. Remember Leblanc's claim that one model had "a more youthful sound."
And that's nothing compared to TV drug ads, where you get into top physical condition by doing one push-up, eating one scrap of kale and one strawberry and, oh yes, taking our pill.
