Sunday was my obligatory bad practice day that happens every so often. Nothing much worked right. I've come to realize that such days are usually followed by gratifying advances in subsequent days, so I don't worry about them. I worked through the practice patiently for a couple hours, but stopped early.
Monday, practice was going fine, when suddenly my propane furnace developed a very audible problem (I live in Vermont.) That situation took several hours to resolve. Practice was cut off at about one hour.
Tuesday, practice was going fine, when at about the two hour mark I suddenly got a nosebleed. Not common for me, but not unheard of. I got the bleeding stopped ok, but decided against further "exertions' for the evening.
Today, Wednesday, I was ready for a good solid, full length practice. At about the hour and a quarter mark, the phone rang. It was my health insurance company wanting to resolve a problem (theirs) and needing me on the line for conference calls with third parties. That took an hour and a half, much of it just being on hold waiting for this party or that to answer.
Grr, grr, grr, I feel the ground being lost. Mostly imaginary, I know, but I wanted to vent. Probably many people have tales more dire they could tell.

Oh dear!!!!! It is horrid to lose practise time. It is like u have missed your fun for the day!
Big hugs.
At least u can be thankful that the list of things that COULD go wrong is running low.
Praying today is a more successful one...

I've just fixed a clarinet for about the 6th time. Same problem every time, the upper and lower joints have been jammed together and twisted, bending the keywork. All done by a small boy who really really doesn't want to practise. His mother is utterly convinced that the kid is a musical prodigy, and so he is on air guitar. I just charge a bottle of wine for the 5 minute fix, and as the kid is keeping me in red wine I suppose I shouldn't grumble too much.

Tony - hah! Do you get paid in advance?
Too bad there isn't a safer design for that bridge stuff (besides a one-piece clarinet.) The cork at least is easy to damage.
