I have a rare Boosey&Hawkes 1-10 alto looking to buy quality pads ,but was told I have to take the pads off and measure cups and thickness? Not practical .Anyone know if there are other models I can use as a comparison to buy a complete set.

You have to take the pads off anyway to replace them. Measuring the existing pads is the best way to ensure you are getting the right sizes. I know this is tedious but it's worth putting in the extra effort for higher quality clarinets.

At a pinch you can remove just one pad and measure the internal and external diameters of the cup. There is usually a 1.0 to 1.5mm difference.
Then by measuring the external diameters of all the cups and subtracting the difference you have a reasonably accurate set of measurements for the pads you need..

Is it a Bundy stencil? B&H imported clarinets (and other instruments) made by Selmer USA and usually stamped them as B&H "78" and the harmony clarinets as Regent (but not to be confused with genuine B&H Regents or the Schreiber-built B&H Regent II).

If you could post a photo it would help with identifying who made it.
