Hey !
Okay, I don't know if any of you read my past post concerning All State.. Well.. As it turns out - I GOT A 97 !! YAY ! I mean, I know it's not good enough to get me in All State ( New York is Crazy that way ) but still.. I was expecting a LOT worse. .plus, everyone said, I cannot.. and oh, you won't succeed - do a level 5.. but I didn't listen to them, and i worked soo hard, and I GOT A 97 ! yay - A+ oh yeah

actually...im in new york state myself...dont count yourself outta all-state yet...
this year they made more difficult regulations all the judges must judge by. very VERY few 100's as compared to the past. so that means mainly 99's and 98's in all state...and depending on what instrument, possibly 97 or 96 with luck or as an alternate. so its still possible!

Because the judge didn't check any boxes off for my sight reading, - My teacher ( a judge of all state for a long time ) said it's not valad.. and I actually have a 98..
Who know.. either way, i'm happy.

Great job! I hope you get in. I audition for NY all state next week- eek!
Actually 97could get you in. It depends on if the judge recommended you or not. Some people who get 100s don't get in and sometimes people with 92s do get in, though it's rare. Don't count it totally out just quite yet!

it's not valid now? that sucks...and you even had a 98...
i only wish i had done better on my auditions, but they were back in march, and well, i over loaded myself and the morons messed up my rooms so i had to do 3 all-state auditions within about an hour and a half....
i had already been there 5-10 the night before(plus 30 mins driving time)...and 830-130 (when i was supposed to have one of the auditions along with a quartet) and then 3-445 (when i had ALL THREE all-state auditions)
i was just so mentally and physically fatigued...by my last one, i couldnt play.
i was practically in tears, its junior year, my last year of eligibilty for all-county and all-state...and all my chances were ruined.
i ended up with a 92 on clarinet
a 94 on oboe (this was my best chance for all-county or all-state...i shoulda had a 95...but my pinky missed an alternate key in one of the scales...so i lost a point)
and 90 on flute (which sucked...this was my last audition at like 430...almost 24 hours after i arrived at NYSSMA for the first time...i went down from a 95 last year)
oh well...i cant even say there's always next year, lol
im just glad its over...

Wow.. I wish i had your drive and determination. TOO MANY AUDITIONS !! I also play flute.. and sax, but I didn't even try Nyssma for that.
Congrats on your grades, 90's are still wonderful. You should be very proud.
I agree with your " I'm just glad its over statement'.
are you auditioning for Gemeni ?

hehe, and its nice to meet another doubler...er, trebler, whatever, lol
rock on!
and i have NYSSMA again this saturday for all-state jazz alto sax and reg. level 6 for jazz flute
then the next week i have music in the parks...
then my school concert...
ITS NEVER ENDING, lol
oh well, i love music :]

It is nice to meet another multi, lets try another instrument.. Soo many people shun playing more then one instrument at a young age.. i hate it ! I love all my instruments !
Wow.. lol. Never.. lol. I took up Saxophone this year, so I could be in Jazz Ensemble. I played flute for Jazz Last year and that was a total distaster. I don't know... I liked it, ( Chick Corea's 'Spain' on flute is the most amazing song ever ) but it was just not happening.
I know how you feel. I have a concert next friday.. Gemeni on the 21, a Major theory/composition due the first week of june.. then another jazz concert on the 10th. It's never ending.
Playing in the Parks is soo cool ! I did that Freshman year - My school took 11 out of the 12 awards. We were awesome. ahh, good times.
