I bought my Buffet new in the mid 1960's. It is clearly stamped "Buffet" on all pieces, but nowhere is it stamped "R13" or anything like that. My assumption is that a Buffet of that age is an R13. Am I right?

If the serial number is 55,000 or greater, you probably have an R13.

If it is after the mid-1950s, as identified by serial number, and has *no* model name stamped on the horn, it is an R-13. All the other models have the model name stamped on it.

well i think a r-13 has the labe "r-13"

Sorry Lizzie but you are wrong. The R-13 is unlabeled. All it has on it is the company logo. Go look in the catalogs.
And one must know the serial number too. As Buffet made some of their pro clarinets before the R-13 with only the Buffet logo on it.
