The Klarinet board seems to be dead. Does anyone post there any more? The most recent indexed entry (findable with the Search function) is from 2012, but I know there are more recent items than that.

The most recent post I've received is one from Oct.12 about Frederic Weiner (FW) branded instruments.
Traffic has been slower, but I don't think it's a coroner's case.

Forgive my ignorance but what is the difference between that board and this one.

Klarinet is an email listserve - you post and read over email. It's run by Mark Charette and Glenn Kantor, the same two who moderate this BB. It was my first experience with online messaging about the clarinet before I began reading and posting here, though I'm not certain whether or not Klarinet pre-existed the BB.

Karine predates this bboard - and the World Wide Web itself! Back in the days before browsers, email lists and network news were the rage.

If it is not being used it is time to store it as a big datafile people can download...makes for rather dull reading..the best parts are the Tony Pay bits.

I agree with David Dow that, if the Klarinet list gets shut down because of waning usage, it would make a great searchable archive, packed with useful information about playing techniques and music theory, along with data about instrument brands and models, reeds, and all sorts of other equipment. A number of professional clarinetists (Tony Pay, yes!) who participated over the years generously gave advice to everyone from fellow pros to amateurs (me) to beginners. Tremendous resource, and I thank you again, Mark Charette, for all you've done to make it so.
