There is a clarinet on Ebay, a Yamaha model 20. I don't find one in the Woodwind magazine to compare it to. Should there be more to this model number? I am looking for a plastic horn to use when my Buffet is in shop or I don't want to take it to my playing destination. All I want is a student or intermidiate horn as the substitute. I want a Yamaha.
BTW - I received the Rozsa Sonatina a few days ago. Not being familiar with it and reading through it, I find this is going to be a great piece to have under my belt. The piece is great. Those variations, while difficult, are such good music. And I see the difficulties in the last movement. The tempo. It's great getting something new and exploring.

The model 20's full designation is YCL-20. Yamaha may have rolled their student model number by now but you can simply compare it to any Yamaha YCL-2x where x represents any digit.

It's likely the YCL-20 (Yamaha CLarinet). It's the entry level horn, but has a good reputation. It has, I believe, formed "undercut" tone holes which is a nice feature for an entry level instrument.

When compared to the Leblanc Vito plastics, the Yamaha YCL20 is a better instrument. The intonation is better and it feels better in the hand. It also sounds better. I was surprised. But, of the student-plastics I've played, the Yamaha is the best.

Tim2- Where did you find the Rosza? I've been looking for the sheet music but I can't seem to locate it anywhere! I'd like to learn it this summer.

Aaaaahhhhhh!!!!!! the Rozsa Sonatina. I got it from Sheet Music plus on this board. go to the upper right corner of THIS PAGE and you will see a graphic that will take you to Sheet Music Plus. Let me know if you need more information.
I am having a great time learning this. There is so much that can be done with this piece musically. I hope you find it equally wonderful to perform.
