Hi , I play the clarinet for a long time and I always have a problem with this note ... as often as I can , although I plan to keep it long or is its harmonious , or altissimo A (since they have the same position) I can not do more to make its always harmonious , you can give advice on how to do this without making known its harmonious ?
The position I do is the basic, I am aware that you can do other two positions, one by pressing the key of G # (although it is still risky because you get to do the altissimo B ) and another that I do not remember.
The mouthpiece I use is a Pomarico Jazz Double Star, reed thickness of 2 Pomarico, I can change it of course with another reed, I get on well with rico royal thickness 4, they are not heavy.

I find E6 to be most unstable (likely to be out of tune or jump to the next harmonic at A6) when the reed *tip* is too stiff or the tip area is unbalanced (one side is stiffer than the other). I have no idea if your reeds are a good match for your mouthpiece - I don't know anything about either.
I'm assuming you've had the instrument checked and you know the pad clearances on all open pads are all correct and no closed pads are leaking air.

thanks for your reply and I am glad that you agree with me about the instability of the note.
For the rest I have many clarinets but what sound is in b flat clarinets and I have three: one in metal that I'm trying to sell and two wooden: Patricola and the one with the wood and the keys of buffet & crampon... last is soft and it is very nice and with this I have a lot of problems to do with that note... Patricola much less (never mind the metal clarinet...)

I usually use TR o x x | o o o (Ab/Eb), which I think is the standard fingering. But I also through the years have struggled with E6 in some situations. And I have found TR (throat A) o x x | o x o (Ab/Eb) to be rock solid. So much so I toyed with using it all the time, but it's a tad too awkward for that.
In my standard set of songs, I routinely use the "throat A" version in a couple of places. It's gold.
(This came from Tom Ridenour's "Clarinet Fingerings". Every clarinetist should own a copy. And this E6 alternate- his #2- convinced me I needed to know more than one way to finger some notes- one size does not fit all. I yearn for a Bb6 fingering that slurs up nicely from Eb6 at fff- that's another thread I already have in progress.)

Mirko...
I suspect many on here loath High E. Eddie Daniels said it was his most hated note. She's a finicky one and yes everything has to be perfect with your whole set up: reed/mouthpiece/voicing/air speed.
In Grainger's "Irish Tune from County Derry", the measure with an slurred to an is just one example of things to go very wrong. Yep, it's not hard per se, but to accidentally high hit is an unforgivable sin on clarinet. (Ironic when other instruments do this, they get an 'oops', be more careful).
Anyhow, for me, it's usually boils down to a properly balanced reed and voicing an Eeee in my throat, tongue up in the back of my mouth, fast air...I almost always half hole...all other things equal. Good Luck!

On occasion, I've half holed the LH open hole to make the high E easier to attack. It is one of the most difficult notes to find on the clarinet.

An essential alternate E6 fingering to have in your repertoire is:
TR (throat G#) x x x / o o o (F/C)
Peter Hadcock called it "never miss E" , and he's right.

I share GBK's liking for the fingering he listed.

Thanks very much at all, Gbk the position is perfect, it's like the position on alto clarinet, in velocity can create confusion but is accurate take it alone.
