I recently bought an 11 year old R-13 Bb Clarinet. The plating is worn off in some
places, and some places are becoming more worn. I want to know if there is a trusted
person in New Jersey that can replate my keys, and give my Clarinet a checkup.

Most shops aren't set up for silver plating. What we do is prep the keys and posts and send them off to Anderson Silver Plating, 541 Industrial Parkway, PO Box 961, Elkhart In 46515, 219-294-6447. After they are returned we do the rest of the overhaul or repad.

I believe that this approach is pretty standard. The shops that I am familiar with all do the same thing. They strip down the clarinet, send the metal parts out to be plated to a specialty plating shop, and then overhaul and re-assemble the instrument.
