Hello,
I'm looking into buying an Ab clarinet, and I was wondering if there is anyone in the Raleigh area, or even North Carolina, that has an Ab clarinet that I could look at and maybe even try.
Additionally, where should I buy the Ab clarinet?? Where is a decent, but cost effective Ab clarinet????
Post here if you do.
Thanks!!!!

Orsi used to make Ab's to special order. I'm not sure if they still do.

Ripamonti male Ab sopranino clarinets - Orsi's quality control, like most Italian makers, is massively variable (from poor to mediocre). So it remains to be seen how Ripamonti compare.

Here's one, but its a little expensive

But seriously, your best bet is to search auction sites for a used one. Be warned that you are never going to find one for under $1000 and more likely than not it's going to have an outdated key system and have poor intonation. But if you really want one and you have the disposable income then there is nothing stopping you. Best of luck finding your clarinet!

Flute and Piccolo are in C
Trumpet and piccolo trumpet in Bb
Soprano Sax and Soprillo in Bb

Wow ! The Leblanc site says that the sale price of the tiny Eb Piccolo Clarinet which they call a Sopranino is $999.999.90c. Now that's a whole lot of bread !

I am assuming you want an A clarinet not this; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JN4OX-yefbY
If that is indeed what you desire well first of Why? And second of all you are going to be hard pressed to find one of those in the raleigh area.
If you do indeed want an A clarinet I would recommend Muncy Winds. It's a bit of a drive (3 hours and 5 minutes according to google maps), but I consistently hear very great things about Muncy and plan to make a trip up to that area in the next couple of weeks. They sell A clarinets, C Clarinets, Eb Clarinets, D clarinets Bb Clarinets and anything else you could probably think of and have a very experienced technician (Mr. Muncy) to help you select to clarinet you want. Heck maybe they could even order one of those weird Ab piccolo clarinets for you!

I owned a LeBlanc Ab but it was terribly out of tune. It is the musical equivalent of a pig squeal too! Not my favorite!
