Hi all,
Any experience with this bass? Does it compare with Selmer or Leblanc?

My guessing is it's probably a Malerne as Marigaux took over Malerne in the early '70s. They're fairly bog standard entry level wooden basses (sometimes having a LH Ab/Eb lever and articulated C#/G# so you can do a B-C#/F#-G# trill) but not in the same league as Buffet, Leblanc, Selmer or Yamaha pro level basses. They're more in league with a Noblet/Normandy/Leblanc Esprit or Buffet student level wooden bass.
(If I had the means and was to buy a brand new bass now, I'd personally go for the Selmer Privilege - but they will most likely need some setting up work done to make sure they play)
Can you post some photos of it so we can determine exactly what it is.

Hello David and Chris P,
I took your advice and passed on it. It's a moot point however, because I purchased a brand-new Selmer Paris model #35! I tried it out in the store and should be getting it next week.
