I've posted on here before asking what professional clarinet I should get to take me through the rest of High School and most of college and I've decided to go with the Leblanc by Backun Symphonie. But I haven't read an in depth review on this forum on any website actually. If any of you have had substantial experience with the instrument I'd love to hear about it.

Are these still being made? I have a Leblanc Symphonie in the key of A, I like it- the tuning is not as good as the Buffet Tosca I owned, but better than the Buffet R13 I had. The tone quality was quite focussed, with a nice balance of resistance- not too free blowing, but not stuffy either... this kind of evaluation is completely subjective, and will mean something different to every different player

When they were still being made, I tried many of them at ClarinetFest and at a visit to Backun, and actually liked them the best of their Leblanc collaboration instruments. The resistance was to my liking, not too stuffy, easy to keep focused, and very smooth keywork.
However, I'd recommend finding a way to visit a big shop or one of the bigger clarinet events where multiple vendors are exhibiting and try as many different ones as you can.
I'm trying out a set of Yamaha CSVR right now and the A clarinet is absolutely fantastic, and nearly half the price of the equivalent R-13!

I tried the Legacy and it bears no resemblance to Leblanc France clarinets other than inline trill keys.
