Hi,
I'm looking to change the barrel of my Selmer Recital clarinets. The original barrels work great but are a little flat. Can you guys recommend me some barrels that I can try. Thanks!

The Recital is made 'fatter' (thicker wood body than most). You may have a hard time finding "off the shelf" that looks right.
You might try to contact Dr. Alan Segal or Martin Freres who actually custom build barrels (neither are just a company that'll have you try a bunch until you find something that works).

Also, the Recital has perhaps the narrowest bores of all clarinets coupled with the wide diameter joints. The lower socket ring is probably the same diameter as a regular clarinet's bell socket ring.

What mouthpiece are you using? I've always found the Recital to be a superbly in-tune instrument.

I'm using a Rico Reserve X10 with 3.5+ V12 reeds. The clarinets play in tune with themselves I'm having trouble in situations when I need to play in A442. Actually I only have this problem in my ww quintet. Playing in other ensembles is great due to the instruments tuning, I don't have any problem at all.

The Recital is sold in two editions: 440 and 442 Hz. The upper joint is different.
I own a 442 Hz version. When I pull the barrel to reach 440 Hz, intonation breaks down in the left hand chalumeau register.
Going the other way with a shorter barrel should* be easier, because lipping down the throat tones is fairly easy.

Your original barrels work great, so surely a shorter Selmer Recital barrel would be your first choice?

@tylerleecutts I haven't thought about that, let me check if I have shorter mouthpiece and will let you know.
@liquorice My problem is that I bought the clarinets used from a friend and my Bflat came with two 65.5 barrels one of them have a D and the other don't. I mostly use the D65.5 one because the sound is gorgeous "A" clarinet like tone. But when I'm playing with my quintet sometimes when playing above forte I'm on the flat side.

I play a Recital and my everyday barrel is 63.5 mm in length and is made by Selmer. The 63.5 mm barrel and one in a 64.5 mm length are available from Selmer. Work through your local music store or buy a shorter barrel from one of the vendors previously mentioned.

@Ralph Both my barrels are from Selmer but they are longer than usual. Probably is that the instrument is made to play A441 or 442 and the long barrels were used to play A440, I need to ask my friend that. I will probably buy a shorter barrel to be able to play in A442 when I need to.

dooooooont do that (shorten the mouthpiece, that is). If you want to lower the pitch of a mouthpiece you'll need to enlarge the bore slightly. It will make your scale lower the pitch, but the playing characteristics will change a bit. You'll gain a bit of depth and flexibility at the cost of overtones.
