While thinking for Bass mouthpieces in other thread, also wonder for those on R13 Eb:
What mouthpiece, ligature do you like and why?
Do you tend to use Eb or Bb type of reeds?
What does best for situations requiring full range and good flexibility and articulation?

A friend of mine (did a lot of assistant principal positions and is a crazy good Eb player) preferred Bb reeds. They tend to be richer in sound (more material?) and easier to work with (maybe due to our lifelong affiliation with them of course).
One other tip that may be helpful (though not necessarily germane to mouthpieces and reeds though) is that this fellow rarely used the register key when playing in the clarion. It seemed to help with intonation and response to just "overblow."

Yes, I know these. I am not really having problems getting notes, just wonder if there are other options I have not tried from those that play it a fair amount. What are others successful with? Not that I will necessarily get same result from same, but since I am not around a bunch of other Eb players, I have to just throw out here! I am always looking for things that put less physical stress on me as a player. Just give me idea of how others have solved the Eb.

I bought a Richard Hawkins Eb mouthpiece that I like and use Bb reeds with it. This mouthpiece gives the possibility of playing with a more covered sound or with a strong "Eb" sound as the music requires. Backun makes an Eb barrel that allows one to use Bb reeds without having to trim off the bottom of the reed. It isn't difficult to cut the backs off, but it is just handy not to have to do it.

I also have always used B flat reeds. I have a couple of acrylic barrels that Lou Gangale made for me a number of years ago with flattened spots so I don't have to cut the reeds off, but sometimes cutting them off changes the response for the better. I used to saw them, but a colleague showed me how well a good pair of anvil pruning shears works -- much quicker and cleaner.

JHowell - thanks for the suggestion that cutting the Bb reeds change the response for the better. I will give that a try. Using pruning shears is something I have seen here many times, but it always worries me about the crushing action that might (but might not) happen. Anyway, I like using my expensive little hand saw.

Indeed. This is similar to what I use now. Any other ideas just for curiosity?
I have that cut back barrel and it can be used either Bb or Eb reeds. Life too short to spend cutting off ends of reeds😇

I use a 5RV with Vandoren White Master 3 and a Backun Barrel/Bell. My clarinet does need the register key to keep G-C in tune, but most people I know have to take it off. The only person I know for sure that doesn't take her Reg. Key off has a Buffet RC (Prestige?) model. The kind that comes in two pieces.

Several months ago, someone on BBoards recommended the Robert Scott Eb barrels. They're available in 41mm-44mm lengths. I've not tried them personally, but they are on my wish list. I've tried a variety of different reeds on the Eb. It didn't take me long to realize I don't like the Vandoren Eb reeds so I switched to Bb reeds. I tried several VanDorens without success until someone on Bboards talked about the White Master German Model reeds. I bought a box and am enjoying them. However, my favorites are all from Gonzales. I use the FOF, GD, and their German Cut reeds. I've still not found the perfect reed, but I'm beginning to think it's the mpc that's the problem...it's the one that came with the clarinet, so it's probably not a great one. Maybe it's time for me to get serious about the Robert Scott!

I rather like the white master reeds for Eb. I feel like they give me more substance to my tone and they feel very stable whereas Eb reeds tend to sound thinner and don't feel as trustworthy in all registers.

I'm a Clark Fobes fan on the Eeffer. I use his mouthpiece, barrel and lower joint extension. The Buffet loves it!

Thanks, I do use the extension. Not sure if it helps or is placebo effect, but so use it😀
Sounds like I have wandered into what most are using, but enjoying reading comments. Unfortunately or fortunately not too many Eb players around to learn what latest trends are.
