The Clarinet BBoard

A few months ago an R13 A clarinet was picked out for me by my teacher who is good friends with Fred Weiner. The clarinet has the most amazing tone of any A that I've ever heard, however the upper clarion (A and B) is quite resistant--so resistant, in fact, that the Pines of Rome excerpt is almost impossible to play. Any of you professionals or repair techs know what can be done about this? New barrel? pad height? $2300 for a new A? etc?
Thanks,
Gary

Gary -
A new barrel -- perhaps from Chadash, Fobes or Pyne -- should be your first priority. If at all possible, you should go to one of them and get a barrel individually adjusted to your instrument and mouthpiece.
Best regards.
