Paula,

Mine was a thread about the Benny Goodman tune. ;)

But having said that, this type of forum does present certain problems for performing artists...and all joking aside, the way the Internet has evolved, I don't know how wise it is to continue posting myself.

Over the past couple of days, I've been involved in another of those silly flame-war types of dramas here. It all seemed tame enough at the time, but since then I've gotten several emails, increasingly filthy, from the guy who "opposed my viewpoint", shall we say. That sort of interaction makes posting of questionable value. But hey, things change. The internet and social media are more complicated, more serious and less serious (simultaneously) than they were two decades ago.

I don't blame Tony and Peter from signing off...it might be the smartest thing to do.

Anyhow, I'm glad you've gotten a lot out of my posts, Paula--it's been great meeting people here over the years.

Eric

Although this site seems to attract more civilized participants (with fewer truly nasty interchanges) than most of the forums I read, I've been extremely sorry to see the departure of several people whose opinions I valued. Maybe we need to revive that old slogan from the early days of internet forums: "Please don't feed the trolls." When someone clearly intends to double down rather than back down, there's no point in arguing. Just let it go. Anyone who looks up the thread in the future can see for himself or herself who wrote reasonable things and who didn't.
