Hi Im new here and just started playing clarinet. I play piano for years now and just recently went into playing jazz. Watching clips on youtube I discovered how beautiful the sound is from a clarinet. So two weeks ago I bought a wooden la Chapelle clarinet witch is beautiful. When I Google on the clarinet I can't find anything. I can find la Chapelle but the logo's don't match. Because I'm afraid it will crack I bought an evette clarinet on eBay yesterday but when I Google it I can't seem to find the same logo. Can anyone shine a light on this? Here's the link.

Thanks for your quick reply. Here's a photo of the la Chapelle logo maybe someone here knows anything about it I'm curious about the age.

That looks very much like a Malerne clarinet - they made clarinets for a lot of companies, so this is an instance where the name only has significance when you can see the rest of the instrument than going on the name alone.
The wide flanged pillar bases seen on the lower joint were also used on Howarth clarinets from the early '90s onwards (S1, S2 and S3) and made them easy to lock into position with a wood screw so they don't rotate. The Howarth student model wooden clarinet was made for them by Marigaux who took on Malerne from around 1973.
I had a very nice Selmer Sterling A clarinet from the '50s that had the same ring keys as this one, but the keys were all unplated. I made a single case for it and sold it on eBay to a buyer in Liverpool.

I'm going to measure it tomorrow. And have a look at the keywork. But the logo is very different. The only problem with it is the last three notes before the register key there is a short of hum with the tone. Maybe the reed?
