 Weber's Fantasia and Rondo
Author: Gary Shiozaki
Date:   2001-04-30 15:31

My son's band director wants him to play the clarinet solo in Weber's Fantasia and Rondo...if we can find the band arrangement. (We have the clarinet ensemble arrangement, but we can not do this one.) Does anyone know where we can purchase or borrow this arrangement. I have heard that it is out of print, so borrowing seems to be our only hope. If you can forward me the organization that has this piece along with the contact person, I'll give it to our band director and he will handle the rest.

Thanks,
Gary

Weber's Fantasia and Rondo, is an extract of Weber's quintet which was originally written for clarinet and string quartet.

The arrangement of the "Fantaisia and Rondo" is made by Mr. C Rosé at Edition Alphonse Leduc, Paris.

I can't possibly imagine someone has written a band arrangement out of 4 parts. But you can try to find one if you wish to.

If you're interested, Editions Alphonse Leduc have made an arrangement of the concertino, for clarinet.....and wind band.. this is a good one.... The guarde nationale have played this version and it is quite well arranged.

Regards

Dan

Yeah!! someone else who will perform this work!

Fact #1 - the band arrangement does exist. It was performed in Australia by theRAAF Band and the University of Melbourne Wind Symphony

Fact #2 It is out of print BUT the Melbourne Uni simply asked the publishers if they could send them a "legal photocopy" of the work, and the university paid for the work as if it were a proper publication.

Problem: I can't remember who the publishers were (they were in the US, that much I know). I will chase this up for you

best of luck
Rina

J.W. Pepper's web site has a listing for both the Clarinet Chior and Band arrangement. The band arrangement is Cataog # 6020192 and sells for 72.00.
Just go to www.jwpepper.com and enter the catalog number on the home page.

Hope this helps.

Steve
