Votano and Moragues play Vandy BD5

Vandoren has two videos now on YouTube to demonstrate their new Black Diamond BD5 clarinet mouthpiece. Pascal Moragues and Juan Luc Votano (are they both playing Buffet Divines?) play enough to show that the BD5 does indeed tend toward a warm, darkish, covered sound. Moragues had been playing a Nick Kuckmieier B2 mouthpiece from Austria; I wonder if he asked Vandoren to confect something similar in their mouthpiece offerings? I wish Vandoren had let Juan Luc Votano stretch out more on the Debussy Rhapsody--some fine playing from him on all the excerpts.

A few notes into that opening lick, Mr. Votano seemed to be 'surprised' by the mouthpiece's openness and had to quickly adjust up to pitch......despite his praises.

Mr. Morague has a better handle on it.

Yes those are both Divines......... also mellower, lighter sounding horns.
