I thought it might be fun to compile a list of everyones setup to see the great variety of reed/mouthpiece set up that is possible.
I keep looking at recommendations from vandoren for reed strength and I always wonder if anyone plays a 5 on their M15 for instance.
Perhaps it can be comforting för some one to see that some one else plays a similar set up?
I'll start:
* Clarinet: Ridenour Lyrique Libertas
* Mouthpiece: Vandoren M15
* Reed: V21 3,5 or rue 56 3.5-4
* Sound/music style: classical, I really adore Neidich sound, guess Im aiming for something similar perhaps.
* Recording of me playing for reference: N/A (will try to record soon)

I have a few students using no. 3 strength Vandorens on M15 mouthpieces with huge sounds. I think the reed strength has more to do with the comfort level of how 'physical' you want to get with your embouchure. Now I say "comfortable" and yet I use a piece of leather between my lower teeth and lip so that my teeth don't go through my lower lip. I suppose life would have been easier if I got used to a softer reed.

Ridenour 576
D'Addario Reserve XO mouthpiece
Vandoren Optimum or a piece of string for a ligature
Vandoren V21 3.5's

Ah I haven't seen those threads. Perhaps I should have bumped one of those instead.
Well I was mainly focusing on the mouthpiece/reed combo, so lets call it totally new and different!

What strength forestone are you using? I tried their hardest black bamboo to be too soft on my M15. Using V21 3.5 för reference

Ridenour Lyrique Speranza or Libertas B-flat, Vandoren M13, String or Luyben ligature, Legere Classic #3.25 (sanded about 0.7 mm narrower). "A" clarinet is R13 (loaned out). Other assorted student line Selmers, etc.
Future purchase is Ridenour Lyrique RCP-576 and Ridenour "C" clarinet.

Mouthpiece - grabner k11*
Lig - vandoren optimum
Reeds - Rico reserve or v12 3.5
Music style....everything, but mainly classical and cumbia at the moment.

Style: classical, marches, musicals, Dixieland ( I play all different kinds of music with the same set-up, mainly because I haven't yet experimented with a lot of different mpc's)

Peter, I am currently playing a variety of newer and older Forestone models ranging from #5 to M. The company has gone through a development process changing models and strength designations in order to improve their product. The newest Black Bamboo models are much more "mouthpiece friendly" and seem to be stiffer, especially the MH and H. On my Grabner K11* and my vintage Chicago Kaspar, the Black Bamboo M work very well for me while the MH is a bit too stiff. I tend to play with a modified conventional embouchure using more upper lip ala the double style--at least, that is how I feel it. Playing with less reed pressure allows me to be more flexible in controlling pitch and extends my endurance. Although I have not played on cane for nearly six years now, for an attempt at reference, I used to play V12, 3.5 on my Chicago K and now the Forestone Black Bamboo seems to play the same as those old finicky canes. Hope this helps a bit..........good luck.

Reeds: Usually Vandoren Blue Box 3.5
Music: folk-y stuff...played classical in college with a Vandoren M13 mp and the hardest reeds I could find.

Ligature: Vandoren Optimum w/ vertical rails (have also experimented with string but it's too much of a hassle to use all the time.)

Buffet R13s, silver plated keys (new set)
Vandoren M13 lyre mouthpiece with gold plated Bonade ligature
Vandoren V12 reeds - used to prefer 4s but now mostly 3.5.
I find that the more I practice and get in shape, the more comfortable the 3.5 becomes. I also find being able to control a slightly lighter reed gives me more flexibility in the sound, a better pianissimo end, and I lose nothing from the fortissimo end.

Style: mostly classical solo, chamber music (different styles- mostly clarinet quartet bass clarinet and clarinet with strings), sometimes on orchestra.
