Looking for a mouthpiece, suggestions where to look?

(I know, long time no see! HI GUYS!)

Anyway, I just bought my dream clarinet (NO GIGGLING) a green Vito Dazzler. Man, I LOVE green, and I've wanted this thing since I started playing. Now I'm an adult, and instead of wasting the money on a Chinese piece of poop from ebay, I got myself the BRAND NAME green one!

Anyway, it came with a Goldentone mouthpiece, which isn't terrible, but where's the original GREEN LeBlanc mouthpiece? YARGH. *cries silently inside* Can ANYONE suggest where on Earth, or beyond, that I can possibly find an original green mouthpiece? Otherwise, I will just buy a no-name generic green one to make myself feel better.

Thanks!

Hi contragirl. Long time no read. Or is it Long time no reed?

I think your best bet will be to get a new green mouthpiece and send it to one of the refacers to make it into something playable. It might be better to get in touch with one of them (say, Brad Behn) to find out which brands are made of decent material.

What will you do about a green ligature and green reeds? How about green hair?

I've read that green Clorets breath mints will reliably turn your tongue green http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Steele, note 7. Maybe they'll work on reeds too, and a plastic Luyben ligature.

Good luck. Post a picture.

Still a favorite of mine... ;)

That said, I'm not sure where to get one! I know there are some Gigliotti Spectrum mouthpieces in colors, and a cursory web search brought up this entertaining page with barrels (they are super-interesting looking!).

Good luck! :)

I only know that they came with the clarinet.

One used clarinet regret that I have to this day is passing up a red Dazzler WITH its original red mouthpiece for $300. I doubt I'll find another.

The green mouthpiece I bought at a very low price was too flat in pitch to be useful in a modern clarinet.

I bought a great green Luyben ligature for my green loving granddaughter who is the principal clarinet in her high school wind ensemble. Now that band has bought new Rovner ligatures for the whole band, possibly to standardize the appearance of the band.

Hi Ken!
Yes, green hair has been taken care of over the years.

At the moment, it is blood red.

I never had the pleasure of a green reed... don't think I'd like that.
Green ligature - it could be possible!
Green mouthpiece - it doesn't have to PLAY well, I just want it for collector's value. :P I have my VD M13L if I wanna jam with it.

Katrina, I was convinced you linked a bong website! (And no, I do not partake. :P ) As for the barrels, those are pretty neato!

The grand total for my green monster? $150. Still cheaper than any other student model. Needs a cleaning, but not bad.

Contragirl,

Welcome Back. It is always good to see another "old-timer" posting again.

HRL

PS Where can I get a red tuba?
