Some how I can't get back to the new topics sight after looking at some of the older posts so I'm posting this in hopes it takes me back. :-) It didn't work. Can someone tell me why I can't go back to the regular page where the new posts are listed. I've gone to every sight on the menu.

Let's understand similar meaning for terms. New topic to me means that which people do (and the link people press) to start a whole new topic or thread.
Conversely, new topics, to my mind at least, is the desire to see the most recent threads" an action that's effected by clicking on the Go To Top link, and I suspect consistent with your terminology: "the regular page where the new posts are listed."
Clearly, it is either me, who doesn't understand you, or some glitch. I know you've been on the site for ages Ed, and to say the least, you know your way around here.
Perhaps you can restate what you wish here, using other terms, that otherwise presents you with obstacles. I admit some loss in translation that very well could be mea culpa.

WhitePlainsDave, So here's what I see. Instead of getting the "new" topic page as I used to always see, the name of the topic, who wrote it and the number of responses that are. I now see the name of the topic and the person that wrote it but instead of the number of response all the responses are listed below it making the thread very very large. I have to scroll down past all the answers before coming to the next topic instead of being able to view all the topics at a glance on a single page.

Ed, scroll all the way to the bottom of the list. There's a tow of options just under the bottom border. One of them will probably be "Collapse Threads>' Click on that and the list should go back to the more compact listing you're used to.

Ed...I, no "we" need this kind of explanation from you in order to help you...sorry if I didn't make this clear:

In the meantime I'll try to understand your reply.

First off, I think you mean to say (or imply is) that when you press the "Go to Top" link, as opposed to when you press the "New Topic" link, you see the most recently posted to existing topics page, not the "new" topic page. The New Topic's page would allow you to start a new thread.
Secondly, what bothers you I think, is that when you do press this "Go to Top" link, the screen's presentation of each contribution to the thread, 1 per line, appears, rather than the single 1 line per thread summary, with the number of contributions to that thread. If what I just said is correct, I suggest you toggle the "View Threads" link (for you it will probably say "Collapse Threads"), appearing at the bottom of the page. This should toggle you back to the 1 thread 1 summary line experience that you are use to.
I use the word "toggle" because pressing this "View Threads" button toggles the link's name back and forth between "Collapse Threads" and "View Threads" as you go back and forth (as you click this link) between the 1 line summary you are use to, and the detailed line items for each contribution to a thread view which you have and dislike, and whose detail I suspect you'd prefer to do without.
