You'll laugh.
With all going on there music related, you'd think it a great place to buy product. As a young player W 48th St was once a mecca for woodwind dealers.
Truth be told, as a native NYer here's what I'd do.
Go to Weiner music on the internet. They're closed on the weekends and too far out on Long Island to meet your travel parameters.
They have very extensive stock.
Order, or better, have those you're staying with (assuming its friends/family) order what you want and have it shipped tomorrow to them. It shouldn't take more than a day or two from Mineola, L.I., where Weiner is, to NYC. Pick it up when you visit them. This way you can save on monetary conversion rates and international shipping costs.
There's always Sam Ash, with its flagship store in Manhattan. I don't think they'll have Weiner's reed variety. I know Weiner has V21's.
