Yes, US 2,226,536, Dec.31 !, 1940, not very new! Have copy on comp. desk for discussing the Galper vent question. Pretty high price ! is obtainable [in person] from Patent Depository Libraries [at least one in each state] for about $1, via library reference service, maybe $5-10. It is interesting in that it describes what is visible on 1940 - ?1970? pro Selmer clarinets [and maybe Signets as well, will check]. It is about 4 pages [am not sure what the "mounted" copy looks like] prob. suitable for a wall picture! Its "parent patent" was filed in France, ser # 329940, 3-28-39, and prob. also issued in Germany [DE] and maybe other European countries. Patents do often give additional info. [if you can determine which embodiment is used on the horns] not available when described in our "good books". Have fun! Don

FWIW that Selmer Octave Vent paperwork has been on eBay for years. Don't know how many copies were made or are being made. mw
