It's not going to KILL it.
Take your clarinet apart and swab out especially the sockets after each use, and you can put it back together and on a stand.
But at that rate, since you should take it apart and swab out the sockets anyway, may as well put it in a case.
In either case, the corks will compress and need replacing sooner.
Wanna save time? Metal clarinet! Only need to put on a mouthpiece!
