Needing help finding out more information about by Buffet Clarinet
Author: ebarsott

Hello!

I am having a very hard time finding any information out about my Buffet Clarinet. All i know it what it does not have a Model number stamped on it at all and it has a 6 digit serial number, not 5 and has no letters. I am wanting to find out what model it is and around what year it is. Does anyone know where i can get some more information?

Thanks!
Elisa

If you post the first three digits (don't post the whole number.....there are some nefarious types out there!) someone will be able to give you the approximate year of production.

Maybe post an image or two?

Looks like an E11.
A closeup of the bridge key would help.
Is it stamped 'made in germany' anywhere?

no it does not have any other stamps on it besides the buffet logo and the serial number. I don't have it with me at the moment so i wont be able to take a closer picture. i purchased it about 11 years ago and since then i do not remember much about it. it looks older than some i've seen online but i cant figure anything out about it. i have even called the store that i purchased it from and they don't have any information on file.

It's not an R13, which has the right ring finger key that is "swoosh" shaped.

E11.

Age - difficult, there are no good complete serial number lists, especially for E11s.

would the E11's say "made in Germany" or "made in France" mine doesn't say anything that's why i was wondering. i don't use it anymore and i would like to sell it but i am trying to figure a price.

It could say either as the E11 was made in both France and Germany. The early E11's had E11 engraved above the A key, but later E11's had a decal which wears off after a while.

The right hand B/F# keys would indicate German made, as does the case.

his is a German E11.

if I were you, I'd ditch the plastic spring thing that holds the E/B lever held down as they can do more harm than good. They're one of Buffet's worst ideas and should be binned on sight.
