Anyone know what the manufacturer's dimensions (tip opening, etc.) were for a number "3" Sumner Acousticut? Not that it matters, but mine is a slightly later model than the classic. It's a lovely-playing piece. Thanks!

HI,
i have 2 of these, one with original facing, one refaced by Robert Scott. I'll measure them and post the facings tomorrow (not able to do that this evening). dn

Well my untouched Sumner Acousticut 3 measures....
Tip opening- 1.16mm
32 (16mm) 20 11 6
Tip rail- "a bit thinner" than standard Vandoren 5RV etc, and quite a "round curve" at the tip and the barest hint of an S-curve in the baffle. Side walls almost parallel.
This facing is a bit "stiff" for my taste, an I'm going to put the Vandoren M30 facing on this mouthpiece when I get a chance as this will involve the least change to the baffle/tip.

[I am aware that facing measurements using the Morgan gauges are variable, I measure 3 times and if there is variation- there wasn't here- average it out. In the past my facing measurements have been close or identical to those made by Mike Lomax, Dave McClune and Brad Behn so I can't be too far off]

Thanks so much, Donald! How fortunate you are to be able to reface mpcs yourself.
My Sumner 3 felt quite open but I wasn't sure just how open they were 'supposed' to be. It's a nice mpc that seems to have been carefully made.
