Hi everyone,
I'm wondering what tablets folks use in their private teaching. I am leaning towards an iPad, but am hesitating because of the lack of both SD card inputs and thumb drive/USB inputs.
Also, what apps are out there both for Android and iOS that private instructors are finding useful?? They could be business oriented (scheduling, billing, etc.) or content oriented (teaching games, sheet music, etc.).
Thanks,
Katrina

For sheet music on Android, there's a program called MobileSheets (soon to be upgraded to MobileSheetsPro). It's great, and the developer is constantly working on it. I'm in Beta for the new version right now, and so far, so good. I'd wait to buy the program when the new version comes out.

Hi Katrina. Not tablet app so to speak, but in regards to mobile billing, attendance and records I use musicteachershelper.com it has interface for iphone and android.
On my android tab I use camscanner to create pdf of scores (of course only pd ones) and Adobe to read them.
I use ChordBot Pro to create quick playAlongs if needed also. GStrings for tuning and Mobile Metronome for... Well metronome.
There are also good Aural apps for both platforms.

Hi Katrina
I use an iPad. Apps I regularly use are forscore (stores PDFs of sheet music, I scan in accompaniments, extra pieces, duets etc) allows you to email directly to your student. I also have a metronome (subdivide), cleartune, auralia interval recognition, name that note, clarinet quiz, some music theory apps. I also use the camera for recording and demonstrating to a student how they are standing, but it's also useful when looking at embouchure and don't have a mirror. Irealpro is basically band in a box but you can load in most standards directly.
Any specific questions feel free to ask.
Brad

Although I am a PC/Android person, I'm on the verge of getting an iPad just to be able to use SmartMusic and put it on the music stand. It's the only tablet platform they currently support, and I've recently asked and been told they don't have plans to expand to others any time soon. SmartMusic has been such an asset in my teaching and in my own playing the last year or so.
