Probably not quite what you're looking for but my principle reference to mouthpieces is the 19 pages of information in W.Thomas Ridenour's book "The Educators Guide to the Clarinet" (2nd Edition) Chapter VIII. pages 8-2 to 8.20
This reference book doesn't cover the history or brands of mouthpieces, just practical information of use to the performing Clarinetist.

Another excellent source of "present day", non-technical, yet, very useful information about mouthpieces can be found on Brad Behn's website: http://www.clarinetmouthpiece.com/nomenclature/
For a very "technical, scientific" explanation of how the clarinet mouthpiece works, may I suggest reading "The Clarinet Revealed" by Ernest Ferron, pages 41-51.
