I've just been asked to have a young clarinet quartet I coach play a couple of pieces at a community recital in a local mall on November 8. When I taught school band and orchestra I had tons of material for small groups that I could always transcribe for whatever instruments I needed to use. But I donated all of that back to the school district when I retired.
I remember that both the MakeMusic (Coda Music at the time) and Sibelius websites had download areas for sheet music, some of which was GPL and some for sale. I don't now see any such area on either site.
Can anyone suggest a source of easy, fairly short downloadable grade 1 or 1-1/2 quartet arrangements for either 4 clarinets or some other quartet grouping (violins and violas would work, or any treble woodwind instruments) that I can transcribe for four clarinets - preferably but not necessarily free GPL material? I'm looking for non-religious Winter/December holiday music.
No time for shipping - i should hand this out to the kids this weekend, so downloadable is important.
Thanks.

Have you tried clarinetinstitute.com? I never checked the material in detail, also don't know about copyright status -- but there is a section for clarinet quartet on that site that does look promising.
Other than that, there is of course IMSLP.org, that you could browse by subgenre of works for four players. Many people upload their own arrangements to this site under open licences, so there is a chance you might spot something suitable in this material.
Good luck & best regards

Well, if you have a Korean friend who can help you, go to clarinethouse.com. They have a number of downloadable quartets for cheap, but the site is in Korean. Sorry if that is no help.

See www.free-scores.com and www.8notes.com Neither one is particularly easy to search, but you never know what you might find.
Christmas music on November 8? Really?

That was my reaction, too. Apparently, Santa arrives at this mall on Nov. 5. <shrugs>

8notes.com has lots of free printable public domain music including various solos and ensembles of Christmas music. If you pay the $20 annual subscription, you can also get parts transcribed for other instruments or keys as well as access PDF versions.

sibeliusmusic.com has closed but was replaced by http://www.scoreexchange.com. I think pretty much everything that was on the old sibeliusmusic site is there. Certainly some quartets and quintets that I downloaded a few years ago are still available.

Thanks, everyone, for the URLs and for the PDFs a couple of you provided through private email. Not only is the immediate problem solved, but I'm now aware of several download sites that I hadn't found or heard of previously.
