Back that day I was in the Tom Lee Music Shop trying out an R13 and some Backun products. When I played the R13 on its stock barrel and bell, the instrument was so bright and harsh like a high-pitched woman yelling(no offense lady Bboarders). I changed the Moennig barrel and it wasn't any different. But when I put on the Backun Protege Bell, the tone started to darken and stabilize, and finally with the Protege barrel i.e. the complete Protege set the tone was greatly stabilized and improved.
I now own the Protege set on my E13 with similar improvements as a result. Even now I'm still amused at the fact that despite the Backun Protege products were designed for intermediate instruments, it also worked very well on some professional instruments and even upstaging the legendary Moennig barrel!

Backun's products are really good - not surprised.
