Hi. Has anyone here learned Bb Clarinet on Essential Elements books? That's what I'm learning off of, and I'm up to the third, the blackish-brownish Essential Technique book. Has anybody played off of these?

Yes, I have too use of these books.
I used the first two. After the first two years of playing, it our school they do not use technique books for some odd reason. I personally think they are pretty good books.

I played through the second book when I was in 4th or 5th grade. I thought that the whole series was a little easy (I skipped book one) but I probably would have liked them if I had started working with them earlier, when they would have been a challenge. The music in those books isn't nearly as annoying as the music in a lot of methods.

The Essential Techniques 3rd book is great if you and your teacher (if you have one) are supplimenting it with some good literature..They are great for getting your technique strong! ;-) if you are in Wisconsin there is a GREAT list of music that is appropriate for the festivals and I often get music for my students off that list because they can then perform it. the list for wisconsin is at http://www.wsma1.com/music_list/index.html

Good Luck!
