 Ridenour Mouthpieces
Author: jedidub

I'm totally sold on the Ridenour Clarinets. However, I haven't read that much about their mouthpieces.

Can someone share some feedback?

Also, which model is closer to the Clark Debut?

Thanks!

I have T. Ridenour's Eroica mouthpiece which works very well on my Lyrique RCP-570C
Gives it a clear focused sound.

The Debut is made by Fobes. You might also consider the Hite Premier.

I own and occasionally play a couple of RE-10s. They are made from an acrylic blank similar to the one Fobes, Hite and Behn uses for their student MPs.

They have a warm, mellow sound and are very even note to note. It appears that Tom might actually totally hand face and finish these. They have wide side and tip rails, which accounts for some of the warmness, but still articulate well. The RE-10s work well with Legere regular cut #2.75 to #3 reeds.

I think Tom Ridenour MPs probably deserves more consideration than they are possibly getting. I've considered purchasing one of his artist MPs, but just haven't yet ... I've been playing VD M30-lyres for a while using Legere and V12s ... I hate to keep experimenting, but I know I might miss something that could work magic.

Send Ted Ridenour an email for his recommendations.

Tom
