When I used to use Vandoren bass clarinet reeds I would use anywhere from 8-12 boxes a year of ten to a box. Sometimes going through 3 boxes to find a few good ones. Once I began using Rico Grand Concerts, because they sent me a few to try years ago, I would use 3-4 boxs of five to a box, a year. I would almost always find a few good ones to use and they would last me a very long time. I've actually had some Grand Concerts last for six months playing it at almost every rehearsal and concert, praticing on others.
Then I began using their Bb reeds and was almost equally successful. Always finding at least a few good ones in a box and they would last longer. Of course the way I broke them in and cared for them helped a great deal.
